If you are going to pay for sponsored content through Outbrain, StumbleUpon or some other service, what is the best content to use?

Vivid & Useful

I have noticed that the following types of content tend to get a lot of likes (thumbs up) on StumbleUpon.

  • Lists
  • Vivid imagery
  • Infographics
  • Attractive Websites

The lists could be just about anything the target audience would be interested in. People often save those so they can refer back to them again and again. Some of the more popular ones are inspirational, or are a great reference guide, often linking to other websites. Basically, the page is useful and almost always evergreen.

Pages with vivid imagery tend to do well in StumbleUpon as well. It's hard to not like a beautiful photo.

Infographics often work well, because they present the information in a visual way. It combines useful and pretty.

And, although it isn't a content type, it is worth mentioning that appearance matters. An attractive website with good content will outperform an ugly website with good content.

It really depends on your

It really depends on your niche, but users on StumbleUpon are interested in many different things, really, so there is no way you can go wrong promoting your content there. There is bound to be people interested in your site/blog.
